Hun Manet, who is already a member of the ruling Cambodian People's Party's (CPP) powerful permanent committee, has been serving as the commander of the Royal Cambodian Army since 2018. In 2020, he was promoted to Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPP’ s Youth Union.

Hun Manet is widely popular among young Cambodians, known for his moderation and approachability.

The recent election marked the 30th anniversary of Cambodia's first democratic elections in 1993. King Norodom Sihamoni expressed his belief that the new government led by Hun Manet as PM would be worthy of the trust of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The King emphasized the importance of the National Assembly in bringing peace, stability, and economic development to Cambodia, calling on the Cambodian people to reconcile in the spirit of national unity.
