(VOVworld) – The Spokesperson for Cambodian National Rescue Party (CNRP), Yem Ponhearith, said that the working groups of his party and the ruling Cambodian People Party would resume talks next Thursday to resolve disagreements arising from the elections.

The working groups’ agenda was passed after Prime Minister Hun Sen agreed on Tuesday to recognise the NEC as a constitutional agency and allowed the opposition party the right to have their own television station.

The working groups, each consisting of 3 members, will meet at the Cambodian Senate to discuss whether the National Election Commission (NEC) is a constitutional agency and whether to grant a license to establish a television station for the opposition party. The working groups’ agenda was passed after Prime Minister Hun Sen agreed on Tuesday to recognise the NEC as a constitutional agency and allowed the opposition party the right to have their own television station. Head of the CNRP, Sam Rainsy, assesed Hun Sen’s action as a positive sign in resolving the political stalemate in Cambodia after the parliamentary elections took place last July.
