(VOVworld) – More than 1,000 leading delegates and people in Phnom Penh attended a meeting on Tuesday to celebrate the 36th anniversary of the Khmer United Front for National Salvation, now the Solidarity Front for Development of the Cambodian Motherland. Addressing the meeting, Heng Samrin, President of the Cambodian National Assembly and the front, said that the front had mobilised all Cambodians to remove the genocide regime and led the Cambodian people to the victory on January 7, 1979, with the support of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and international friends. Mr Samrin said that the victory had opened a new chapter in Cambodia’s history when the Cambodian people finally had freedom and were able to rebuild the nation. He called on all the front officials to unite, uphold their patriotic traditions, and do their utmost to serve the nation.
