(VOVworld) - All parties concerned in the East Sea dispute should fully implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) toward the completion of a Code of Conduct (COC), Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said at an inauguration ceremony for a bridge in Kandal province in Cambodia on Monday.

His remarks were made on the threshold of the 48th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM 48) and related meetings taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Tuesday, with the East Sea issue expected to be the focus of the agenda.

According to a draft joint statement released earlier, ASEAN Foreign Ministers expressed their serious concerns over the on-going developments in the East Sea, which have hindered peace and stability, and security in the region.

They also agreed on the urgent need to resolve erosion of mutual trust and confidence between relevant parties and urged top officials to expeditiously work towards an early conclusion of the Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC).
