As the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Haji Hassanal Bolkiah is paying a State visit to Vietnam from Sunday, Ambassador Vu talked to a Voice of Vietnam correspondent based in the ASEAN region about the significance of the visit, prospects for economic cooperation and areas in which the two countries expect to see strong progress in the coming time.

“Within the framework of the visit, the two sides will discuss and evaluate the implementation of cooperation areas in the Action Program to implement the Comprehensive Partnership for the period 2023-2027, which was approved during the official visit to Brunei by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in February 2023. In particular, the visit is an opportunity for the two sides to discuss measures to deepen cooperation in important and priority areas, such as politics, diplomacy, defense, security, energy, tourism and people-to-people exchanges,” said Vu.

According to the Vietnamese Ambassador during this visit, Vietnam and Brunei are expected to sign a MoU on Halal cooperation and ramp up coordination in the fisheries sector, especially in preventing and combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
