According to Andrew Eames, the “most sustainable and attractive” way to explore Vietnam is to take the Thong Nhat train across the country.

Departing from Ho Chi Minh City, instead of going directly to Hanoi for a journey of 1,700 km in 34 hours, Andrew bought a turn-by-turn ticket to visit other famous destinations such as Nha Trang, Da Nang, and Hue.

Andrew said he chose Thong Nhat train is because of its low cost, adding that he could go straight from South to North for only 50 USD. This helped him save money on hotels for the night and watch the sunrise while sitting on the train.
