(VOVworld) – British Prime Minister David Cameron, chairman of the Group of Eight, started his visit to Russia and the US on Friday to discuss conditions for convening an international conference on Syria. The prime minister’s office said that during his visit Cameron will also discuss the agenda of the upcoming G8 summit, comprising seven of the world’s leading industrialized nations, and Russia, which will be held in the middle of June in Northern Ireland. Earlier, Cameron said that it was necessary to hold emergency negotiations to strengthen the political transition process and put an end to the conflict in Syria. He added that Britain could not unilaterally respond to the current situation in Syria, but the country will continue to coordinate with its allies to support the Syrian opposition and try its best to find a political solution to the conflict.
