The event was attended by representatives of the Vietnamese Health Ministry, the British Consulate General, the Cho Ray Hospital, and the Ho Chi Minh City Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
British Consul General Ian Gibbons thanked Vietnamese agencies for their help in treating the patient.
“I can do no better than to repeat thank you again on behalf of the British government. I think it's also important that I recognize the incredible work driven not just by the Vietnamese government but all the hospitals staff that have worked incredibly hard over the last five months to record such astonishingly low numbers of infections and pleasingly no deaths,” Mr. Gibbons said.
Associate Professor-Doctor Luong Ngoc Khue, Director of the Health Ministry’s Administration of Medical Examination and Treatment said Patient 91’s treatment provides valuable experience for Vietnam in fighting the disease, minimizing deaths, and finalizing Vietnam’s COVID-19 treatment guideline.
The 43-year-old pilot, Vietnam’s most critical COVID-19 patient, has recovered enough to make the long flight home.
