(VOVWORLD) - Britain will not pursue any trade relationship with the EU that depends on aligning its laws with EU laws, British PM Rishi Sunak told business leaders on Monday.

Sunak said Brexit created greater freedom in matters like migration and border control and Britain needs regulations that will allow it to be a leader in those industries that are going to create jobs and economic growth.

The remarks denying that Britain has any plans to pursue a Swiss-style trade relationship with the EU came after the Sunday Times newspaper reported that the government was considering such plans.

Switzerland is entitled to access to the EU's single market, but in return has to accept certain conditions concerning budget contributions and migration.
