The EU counts on a strong relationship with Britain in full respect of the agreements made after Britain’s departure from the bloc, said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
EC Vice President Marcos Sefcovic said the EU-UK relationship is of strategic importance, and he pledged to make an effort to foster the partnership in full respect of all agreements, including the Northern Ireland Protocol.
Irish PM Michael Martin called on Sunak to work with the EU to respect the Northern Ireland Protocol. Martin emphasized his "shared responsibility" with Sunak to uphold the Good Friday agreement, as it is vital to ensuring peace and prosperity in Northern Ireland.
