Members of Parliament voted 319 to 303 against an amendment to increase parliamentarians’ power if they cannot reach any agreement with Brussels before the UK leaves the EU in March.
Last week, the UK parliament voted 327 to 126 against a proposal to keep the UK in the European Economic Area (EEA) after Brexit.
The EEA is a market that includes all EU members, providing free movement of persons, goods, services, and capital in the European market.
