Vietnam is one of the countries with the fastest aging rate in the world. In less than 20 years, the population over 65 years old may account for over 20% of the total population, which poses socio-economic challenges.
Dang Bich Ngoc, a National Assembly deputy of Phu Tho province, stressed the need to promulgate the Population Law with breakthrough policies to encourage childbirth to solve the population and labor problems.
“The draft law’s solution is economic and housing support, and then working time support. The ultimate goal is to create the best conditions for women during pregnancy to give birth, encourage them to feel secure in giving birth. Each household, couple and individual is encouraged to exercise their right and obligation to have enough children and contribute to increasing the quality of our population and building a high-quality workforce,” according to Ngoc.
