(VOVworld) - Brazil is ready to ensure security and safety for its people and foreign tourists taking part in the upcoming 2014 World Cup. Speaking at a meeting of the Council for Economic and Social Development on Wednesday, in the capital Brasilia, President Dilma Rousseff said the federal government is closely cooperating with the local governments to enhance security activities in 12 Brazilian cities hosting the event.

Armed forces, federal police and federal highway police have been trained to ensure security for the event. President Rousseff also pledged not to allow any riots or disturbances during the planet’s biggest sporting event, scheduled from June 12th to July 13th.
