Speaking alongside Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Germany, Obama reiterated the US pledge to bolster training for Iraqi forces that enable them to carry out attacks not just defend.

Iraqi PM al-Abadi called on the international community to help curtail IS revenue from oil smuggling, adding that IS’s success in Ramadi would be a short-term tactical one.The meeting took place just one day after Iraqi forces declared to have gained control over Baiji, the major oil refinery located 250 km from north Iraq.This advance enabled Iraqi forces to ensure the safety of the largest oil refinery.
