Earlier local authorities released a statement saying that one of the girls had been located but the four others were still unaccounted for, predicting that they might have traveled interstate.

The Vietnamese Consulate General in Sydney is actively coordinating with the Australian police and the sponsoring families to carry out search and citizen protection work for the four remaining students.  

All five students were studying at Hamilton Secondary College in Adelaide and reported missing at different times in December 2023 and January 2024.
