(VOVWORLD) - On Thursday, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced a 50 million USD grant to the International Fund for Ukraine to aid the country in procuring arms to improve its military capabilities.

The additional amount brings Australia’s total financial support to 960 million AUD including 780 million AUD in direct assistance to Ukraine’s Armed Forces.

The Australian Defense Force continues to train Ukrainian soldiers in the UK under Operation Kudu. Meanwhile, Australia’s E-7A Wedgetail aircraft is providing vital assistance in Germany.

Albanese said Australia’s support aims to help the Ukrainian people find security within their country’s own borders and to determine their own future.
