It was not immediately clear what triggered the blast in the western neighbourhood of Tariq al-Jadida on Friday night. The state-run national news agency said the blaze erupted inside a bakery in the basement of the building. A major blast took place in the Beirut Port two months ago, killing more than 190 people and injuring thousands of others. A large stockpile of ammonium nitrate is believed to have been the cause of the deadly explosion.
