(VOVworld) – ASEAN Economic Ministers and the US Trade Representative convened a consultative meeting on Monday as part of the 47^th ASEAN Economic Ministerial Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.


Both sides acknowledged rapid progress in bilateral trade and investment in recent years. The US is ASEAN’s third largest investor with investment totaling 54 billion USD and ASEAN-US trade revenue at 212 billion USD from 2010 to 2014. ASEAN and US economic ministers agreed that ASEAN should improve its relationship with the US business circle to inform them of ASEAN’s effort to create a borderless trade and investment region. ASEAN ministers agreed to organize the 3^rd AEM promotion program in the US in 2016. The Ministers also met with the US-ASEAN Business Council.
