(VOVWORLD) -The 77th UN General Assembly held its 92nd Plenary Session in New York on Monday to discuss and approve the 2023 report of the UN Peace-Building Committee.

Speaking on behalf of ASEAN, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, expressed ASEAN’s hope for increased efforts and multilateral commitments from the international community to resolve conflicts comprehensively and through closely coordinated approaches, strengthening the role of regional organizations in ensuring peace.

Giang reaffirmed ASEAN's unwavering commitment to the UN’s peacekeeping and peace-building efforts. He emphasized ASEAN’s willingness to promote engagement and cooperation with dialogue partners and partners outside the region, utilizing existing ASEAN-led mechanisms to enhance peace, security, stability, and development, while also bolstering the region's resilience to emerging challenges.

In addition, Giang called on relevant parties to collaborate in addressing resource challenges for peace building and to actively encourage the full, equitable, and meaningful participation of women across all levels of the peace process.
