(VOVworld) - ASEAN Secretary General Le Luong Minh has held a meeting in Jakarta with the Committee of Permanent Representatives, CPR, to discuss ways to increase cooperation among member countries and the secretariat.

Minh said yesterday that ASEAN needs to improve coordination and increase communications among ASEAN agencies to boost the efficiency of the implementation of the ASEAN Political – Security Community, the ASEAN Economic Community, and the ASEAN Socio – Cultural Community by 2015. Minh said the bloc’s central role is an important issue in its agenda and narrowing the development gap among members is one of the top priorities. Meeting participants agreed organize periodic meetings to improve coordination and cooperation. The CPR pledged full support for the ASEAN Secretary General during his term until 2017.
