Chaired by Rear Admiral Tran Thanh Nghiem, Commander of the Vietnam People’s Navy, the navy chiefs assessed the naval situation in the region and discussed future initiatives.

Rear Admiral Nghiem said Vietnam’s navy is committed to maritime security mechanisms: “Vietnam’s initiatives on training the ASEAN navies were approved and warmly praised. The mutual trust between ASEAN countries will increase collaboration between their navies in dealing with arising maritime situations”.

The Royal Brunei Navy will host the meeting of ASEAN navy chiefs next year.
