(VOVworld) - On Wednesday, ASEAN and China adopted guidelines for a hotline between their senior diplomats in case of maritime emergencies.

The two sides issued a joint statement announcing the application of the code for unplanned maritime encounters at sea (CUES) in the East Sea, an international agreement approved in 2014.
These agreements were reached at the 19th China-ASEAN leaders’ meeting in Vientiane, Laos, where the leaders also issued joint statements on the 25th anniversary of Chinese-ASEAN dialogue relations and production capacity cooperation.
