(VOVWORLD) - An art program will be held this Saturday in Hanoi to honor the Vietnamese traditions of “remembering the source of the water we drink” and “repaying those who rendered service to the nation” to express gratitude for the great contributions of heroes, martyrs, and wounded soldiers to national liberation, construction, and defense.

The program will feature songs in praise of national heroes and the beauty of homeland performed by artists of Military Region 1’s Art Troupe and art troupes from Hanoi and Bac Ninh province.

Colonel Do Phu Tho, acting Editor-in-Chief of the Vietnam Veterans Newspaper, the event’s organizer, said, “Before this program takes place, we’ve organized visits and presented gifts to several families of martyrs in Hanoi city and Hung Yen province, as well as to a number of war invalids and sick soldiers.”

“From now until the event on Saturday, we’ll continue repaying debts of gratitude to families of martyrs, and wounded and sick veterans,” Mr. Tho noted.
