(VOVworld) – The Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) has received valuable support and assistance from international friends, especially the army and people of the former Soviet Union.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Nguyen Thanh Son made the remark at a ceremony to mark the 70th founding anniversary of the VPA and the 25th All People’s Defense Day.

During its 70-year development history, Son said, the army has upheld the ancestors’ combat tradition and worked together with all people to win glorious victories during Vietnam’s struggles for national liberation and sovereignty.

Today the army continues to be the key force of the people’s defense, ready to fight for the country and people against every challenge and in international integration.

Cooperation between Vietnam and Russia in defense and military techniques has been a highlight in their comprehensive strategic partnership.
