The Indian Army claimed that Chinese troops attempted on Monday to approach one of India’s forward positions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and, when dissuaded by Indian troops, fired several rounds in the air to intimidate the Indian troops. Despite the provocation, the Indian troops exercised great restraint and behaved in a mature and responsible manner, according to an Indian Army statement.

China claimed that it was the Indian army that crossed the LAC and fired warning shots near Pangong Tso Lake, to which Chinese soldiers then responded.

The Indian Foreign Ministry rejected all Chinese accounts of the incident.
