The ABC Mundial website said the victory ended French colonialism in Vietnam and left an indelible mark on human history. The article called the victory a symbol of the resistance of the Vietnamese people.

From the resistance on the battlefield to political, economic, and diplomatic struggles, all sectors of Vietnamese society joined together to expel the invaders, it said.

The ReporteAsia newspaper underlined the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh in the resistance war, which consolidated the great national unity bloc and promoted patriotism to create the Dien Bien Phu victory.

After 56 days and nights of courageous, smart, creative combat, the Vietnamese army and people destroyed the complex of Dien Bien Phu strongholds, killed or captured the French soldiers gathered there, shot down dozens of planes, and destroyed or captured all the vehicles, weapons, warehouses, military equipment, and supplies of the French army.

The Ámbito Internacional newspaper said the Dien Bien Phu victory marked the worst defeat of colonialism, and that, after 70 years, the stature and historical significance of the victory still resounds.

The victory contributed greatly to the progress of humanity, and proved the truth that oppressed and invaded peoples will eventually win if they have a strong will and a smart, creative path and know how to unite and fight for independence and freedom, it wrote.
