President Lee Jae Myung will have a meeting with President Trump on October 29. Seoul and Washington are negotiating to narrow their differences regarding a 350 billion USD investment pledge by Seoul, a part of a new trade deal that would reduce tariff on imports from South Korea to 15%, down from a threatened 25%.
Meanwhile, in his talks on November 1 with Chinese President Xi, who is making his first visit to South Korea in 11 years, President Lee expected to discuss ways to advance bilateral relations and regional security issues, including the Korean Peninsula.
Seoul is also monitoring the possibility of a meeting between President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on the sidelines of the APEC Summit, Wi said.
The White House said on Thursday that President Trump will meet President Xi on October 30 as part of a trip to Asia.
