APEC Summit 2025: Vietnam charts course for innovation and shared prosperity

(VOVWORLD) - The Republic of Korea’s Foreign Minister Cho Hyun and Minister for Trade Yeo Han Koo co-chaired the 36th APEC Ministerial Meeting (AMM 36) on Thursday in Gyeongju, as part of the 2025 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week.

 A Vietnamese delegation, led by Nguyen Hong Dien, Minister of Industry and Trade, and Nguyen Minh Hang, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the meeting.

In his remarks, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien urged APEC members to increase cooperation, share expertise, and provide technical support in AI capacity building with a focus on workforce training, labor market connectivity, and public access to affordable AI tools.

He also emphasized the importance of promoting investment cooperation, expanding green finance, and accelerating technology transfer, while supporting developing economies in applying digital and AI technologies to strengthen supply chain management and ensure smooth regional trade flows.

For her part, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang outlined several key directions for APEC to foster inclusive innovation and shared prosperity across the region.

These include establishing a regional cooperation framework on emerging technologies to ensure AI and digital innovation serve people and drive inclusive growth; enhancing collaboration on labor mobility and human resource development; sharing experience in addressing population aging; and building digital capacity so that all generations can adapt to, contribute to, and benefit from the digital economy.
