Chien briefed the guests on Vietnam’s socio-economic development as well as activities by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam-US Association to foster the relationship between the two peoples. He added that the visit will help AL members better understand the land and people of Vietnam, thereby strengthening the friendship between the two countries and helping Vietnam overcome such consequences of war as Agent Orange/dioxin, bombs, and mines. Dellingger said his visit aims to study the situation in Vietnam and bilateral cooperation in addressing the issue of soldiers missing in action. He also plans to visit a site where remains of American soldiers listed as missing in action during the war are being searched for in Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province. The American war veterans expressed their concern about current tensions in the East Sea, saying that the issue should be resolved by peaceful means on the basis of international law.
