The tail of AirAsia's crashed plane is found Wednesday by Indonesian searchers. |
Search-and-rescue chief Bambang Soelistyo told reporters in Jakarta that the tail was their main target Wednesday. The plane tail houses the “black boxes”—the voice and flight data recorders—which could give investigators clues to the cause of the crash.
AirAsia’s flight QZ8501, carrying 162 people, fell into the Java Sea on December 28, after leaving the Indonesian city of Surabaya en route to Singapore. Bad weather made search-and-rescue operations difficult. Only 40 bodies have been recovered so far.
