On this occasion, a delegation of Hanoi officials laid floral wreaths at the statue of Vladimir Ilych Lenin in Hanoi. This is an annual event in Hanoi to mark the event and express gratitude to Lenin, the great leader, preeminent politician, and teacher of the working class and laborers around the world.

The same day, Vietnam’s major newspapers ran photos and articles underlining the historic event. The People’s newspaper and People’s Army newspaper published a photo of Lenin delivering a speech to military recruits on May 25th, 1919. The photo’s caption quotes President Ho Chi Minh talking about the victory of the Russian October Revolution. That success taught workers and oppressed nations around the world a precious lesson about the ultimate liberation of the working class. Vietnam’s working class and people are well aware of Lenin’s teaching and the lessons drawn from the Russian revolution.

The People’s Army newspaper ran an article discussing the lessons of the Russian October Revolution, analyzing the significance of the leadership of V.I.Lenin, and his creative arguments on administration and seizing power for the proletarian class. According to the article, President Ho Chi Minh made creative use of the Russian October Revolution to make Vietnam’s 1945 August Revolution a success.

Vu Xuan Hong, President of Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, told VOV: “It’s possible to say that without the Russian October Revolution there wouldn’t be a Vietnam. We’re grateful to the people of the former Soviet Union and today Russians, and proud of the relations between Vietnam and the former Soviet Union, now Russia. Those of us who have studied there respect Russian teachers, who gave us, not just knowledge, but also a political viewpoint and the spirit to return and work for the homeland.
