Launched 2 months ago in response to the International Day of Elderly People (October 1), the program has been implemented in 63 cities and provinces, giving free medical check-ups and medicine to around 32,000 elderly people. Senior lieutenant Luong Xuan Thang is a doctor from military Hospital 103: "Healthcare services are still limited and difficult for people especially elderly people in remote areas. When doctors go there, they feel so happy. We also consider them our close relatives and give them the best care".

A workshop on elderly artists and national culture was organized on the same day in Hanoi to respond to the event. Professor Hoang Chuong, Director of the Research Center for the Preservation and Development of National Culture, said: "Old age does not lower the creativity and inspiration of revolutionary artists. We have known such talented elderly artists such as Professor Tran Van Khe, musician Vinh Bao, professor Tran Bang and writer To Hoai. Elderly artists have always had a high sense of responsibility towards the national culture and have always cared preserving traditional cultural values".
