(VOVworld) - Egypt's Central Election Commission announced that 98.1% of Egyptians back the new Constitution.

Head of the Commission Nabil Salib said about 19 million voters said yes to the new Constitution and only about 381,000 people said no. This is record figures in Egypt’s history.

The approval of the new Constitution will pave the way for a presidential and parliamentary election scheduled to take place in the next 6 months. It will finalize the political transition in Egypt after the coup toppling President Mohamed Morsi.
