7,000 sets of martyrs’ remains recovered in 5 years

(VOVWORLD) -From 2021 to 2025, nearly 7,000 sets of martyrs’ remains have been recovered nationwide; 103 remains been identified; and information on 2,560 graves in martyrs' cemeteries verified using empirical methods, according to a review conference in Hanoi on Thursday.

At the event, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra said that approximately 175,000 remains of martyrs nationwide remain unaccounted for and more than 300,000 graves of martyrs need to be identified. She urged for greater efforts and practical solutions to accelerate the search for and collection of the remains of martyrs and to identify those whose information is incomplete.

The goal is to recover approximately 7,000 remains of martyrs by July 27, 2027, the 80th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day and 10,000 remains by the end of 2030. 18,000 samples of martyrs' remains with incomplete information will be identified using DNA testing by 2027 and 23,000 samples by the end of 2030.

The recovery of remains of martyrs has always been a special concern of the Party and the State, Deputy Prime Minister Tra said, adding that this great and sacred task requires continued investment with dedication, intelligence, technology, compassion, and support of the people and businesses.
