(VOVworld) – President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Nguyen Thien Nhan, hailed the contribution of the Vietnam Women’s Union to improving women’s living standards at the 6th conference of the Union’s Executive Committee in Hanoi on Monday.

Mr. Nhan said that the Vietnam Women’s Union had supported the creation of 1,300 cooperative models and the generation of jobs for women to raise their incomes. Many rural women had been encouraged to take part in new cooperative models to escape poverty.
At the conference, participants discussed measures to implement targets set out at the 11th Vietnam Women’s Union congress which aims to help more women escape poverty and raise the number of union members.
