(VOVworld) – 48 people were dead after a passenger plane of Trans Asia Airways crashed in Taiwan’s Penghu archipelago on Wednesday.

The Taiwan’s Central News Agency reported on Thursday that of 58 people on board, 2 are French, 52 other passengers and 4 crew members are Taiwanese. The injured people are now under treatment at a local hospital. Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is on a tour of Latin America, expressed his deep condolence to the victims’ families.
TransAsia Airways is providing assistance to victims’ families and also assisting the Taiwan’s Civil Aeronautics Administration and Aviation Safety Council in investigation.
Earlier, the TransAsia Airways’s ATR-72 plane flew from Kaoshung port city to Penghu islands and crashed during landing attempt as typhoon Matmo hit the region.
