Regarding tourism, Minister Anh said there are 1,000 investment projects in tourism worth 15 billion USD. Last year, tourism contributed 6% of the GDP and generated 1.4 million jobs. Vietnam aims to welcome 10 to 10.5 million foreign tourists by 2020 with a revenue of 20 billion USD.

Minister Anh said Vietnam has great potential for tourism, but the hospitality sector has not developed on par with the nation’s advantages. He addressed some orientations for tourist development. "We have to intensively improve the quality of tourist services. It’s important to link tourism with cultural and historical preservation. We have to simplify procedures to attract investors. We need to introduce typical tourist products, organize vocational training, increase communication and tourism promotion, and foster regional cooperation."

In the field of sport, the Ministry of Culture, Sport, and Tourism has developed a frame of 5 levels: the Olympics, ASIAD, Sea Games, national sport and physical education competition, and community sports movement. Vietnam is determined to successfully host the ASIAD 2019 and win medals in international events.

Earlier on Thursday, Cao Duc Phat, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, continued to answer remaining questions from Wednesday about outlets for agricultural products, agricultural trademark, forest management and protection, and the new rural development program.

Tomorrow, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Minh Quang, and State Bank Governor Nguyen Van Binh will take the floor to answer deputies’ questions.
In the afternoon, Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs answered National Assembly deputies’ questions on employment, vocational training and social beneficiary policies. Minister Pham Thi Hai Chuyen said that vocational training especially in rural areas have benefited from increasing state investment with more than 1,000 centers nationwide. She recommended measures to bring training curriculum closer to corporate needs: “The Ministry will make two proposals to the government, including a complete review of the vocational training program in rural areas and direction to schools in matching training contents with local business needs. Each training center should set up a marketing and consultancy office.”

40% of the vocational training centers are run by private sector as part of the ministry’s efforts to socialize the industry. The Minister hails the Party and State’s care for the poor as they are most vulnerable in economic doldrums:“The government has initiated a program of actions to assist the poor in terms of healthcare, land access, housing, credit and employment. This has eased difficulties facing the poor.”

The Minister said she expected more inter-ministerial cooperation in the management of workers in land border areas. She will join further Q and A session on Friday morning.
