(VOVworld) – The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee gave opinions Tuesday regarding a number of laws and ordinances to be submitted to the upcoming 7th NA meeting.

The deputies commented on the Law on Entry, Exit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam, which was publicized for public discussion at the 6th NA meeting, stipulating the principles, conditions, orders, and procedures for migration, transit, and the residency of foreigners in Vietnam. It also states the rights and responsibilities of Vietnamese state management agencies, organizations, and individuals with regard to the issue.

Regarding regulations on those who receive visa exemptions including exemptions to enter border economic zones and special economic and administrative areas, National Assembly’s Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu said:

Under the Constitution of Vietnam, the National Assembly has the right to establish special economic zones. But to date, we haven’t used such a model. In the future, if we build these zones, it would be better to mention the exemption of visa in the law on entry, exit, and residence of foreigners in Vietnam.

The bill also set regulations on residence in industrial, processing, economic, border economic zones, administrative-economic special zones, and border areas.

The same day, the Committee approved the 2014-2016 allocation of additional Government bonds for projects scheduled for completion this year and next. Deputies also discussed amendments and supplements to the Resolution on votes of confidence for officials elected or approved by the National Assembly or People’s Councils.

The Committee discussed preparations for the upcoming 7th National Assembly meeting scheduled to open on May 20th and close on June 24th. During nearly one month of working, the National Assembly will consider the approval of 10 draft laws and 2 resolutions, and give opinions on 18 other bills and give two and a half days over to a Q&A session. Deputies will spend time talking about socio-economic issues, government reports on the implementation of last year’s socio-economic development tasks and state budget, the implementation of the plan for the early part of this year, and the balance of the 2012 state budget.

NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung asked for a report on the implementation of the newly revised Constitution in pursuance to NA Resolution No 64. He said the organization of votes of confidence for officials elected or approved by the National Assembly or People’s Councils will be temporarily canceled at the 7th NA meeting for revisions and amendments.
