(VOVworld) - Twenty one European Union member states vote in European Parliament elections on Sunday. Earlier, other 7 EU countries including the US, Netherlands, the Republic of Ireland, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Slovakia, and Malta joined the elections.
The elections’ official results will be announced when the voting ends at the last polling stations in Italy at 11pm local time. For the first time, the 2014 European Parliament elections has been adjusted in accordance with the Lisbon Treaty in which, 751 parliament seats will be divided to each country based on their population. Germany will reserve the highest number of 86 seats, followed by France with 74 seats. Small countries like Cyprus, Estonia, Luxembourg, and Malta, will receive 6 seats for each country. The two most potential candidates for the EC Presidency is Jean-Claude Juncker of European People Party (EPP) and Martin Schulz of Party of European Society (PES).
