2022 “Red Spring” drive collects 8,600 blood units

(VOVWORLD) - 8,600 units of blood were collected during the 15th Red Spring blood drive, 7,000 units more than the target. The nine-day event ended Sunday.

Red Spring is one of the largest blood donation events of the year.

It was jointly launched by the National Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion and the Hanoi Youth Association for Blood Donation in 2008, and expanded nationwide in 2010.

Its aims is to help address the shortage of blood available during the Lunar New Year holiday.

Over the past 15 years, about 100,000 units of blood have been collected.
