Speaking on the weekly TV program “People ask, ministers answer” on Sunday, Minh said changes around the world during the past year had great impacts on Vietnam’s security and development. In such circumstances, Vietnam was successful in developing and deepening the framework of relations it set up with important partners in 2013 in an effective and practical manner.

Deputy PM Minh said economic diplomacy contributed to overcoming the consequences of economic instability and boosting growth through promoting market expansion and attraction of investment and official development assistance (ODA). He noted that the EU increased its ODA commitment to Vietnam to 400 million EUR until 2020; Japan upgraded its relationship with Vietnam to an intensive strategic partnership and pledged 1.3 billion USD in ODA loans for five infrastructure and energy projects. Vietnam concluded Free Trade Agreement negotiations with the Republic of Korea and the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
