(VOVWORLD) - The 28th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025) officially opens on Wednesday at the ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Center in St. Petersburg, Russia.

The event brings together 20,000 participants, including high-level leaders, experts, and business representatives from 140 countries and territories. The Vietnamese delegation is led by Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long.

This year’s forum, themed “Shared Values – A Foundation for Growth in a Multipolar World,” will focus on major topics including global growth, Russia’s economy, the role of human development, sustainable living environments, and future technologies.

The forum (SPIEF 2025) is expected to host more than 150 events in diverse formats such as strategic seminars, plenary sessions, in-depth panel discussions, and business breakfasts.

On the sidelines, delegates will also address pressing global issues, including strengthening economic sovereignty, achieving technological independence, building autonomous financial systems, and countering sanctions.

Notably, this year’s forum features bilateral business dialogues between Russia and key strategic partners such as Vietnam, China, India, Brazil, Iran, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as well as African, Latin American, EU, and ASEAN countries. The forum runs through June 21.
