Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump |
Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are deadlocked in the key swing states that will decide the election, according to polling released Monday. A poll from Emerson College Polling and The Hill released the day before Election Day showed Harris and Trump tightly matched in seven battleground states. Trump holds an edge in Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania, while Harris has the edge in Michigan. They are tied in Nevada and Wisconsin.
A survey by Decision Desk HQ showed both candidates with 48.3% support nationwide.
Vote counting this year is expected to be faster than in 2020, when COVID-19 caused delays in counting mail-in ballots, but a heightened focus on accuracy and security might slow down the results. A winner is unlikely to be announced Tuesday night. That might happen on Wednesday or even later.
In addition to the candidates for President and Vice President, on the ballot this year are all 435 seats in the House of Representatives, 34 of the 100 Senate seats, governorships in 15 states, and issue referendums in seven states.
