The outstanding young individuals who represent 51 ethnic groups from 50 provinces and cities excelled in student exams and national science and technology competitions, gained admission to universities and academies with exceptional scores, or had some other outstanding achievements.

Vi Duong Phong, a student of the Thai ethnic group at Nghe An Ethnic Boarding High School in Nghe An province, created a project to produce brocade fabric from banana peels and other plants. This earned him a Gold Medal and Special Award at the International Scientific Invention Olympiad in South Korea.

Phong said: "I’m proud and happy to attend this meaningful ceremony. I will try to develop products to help my hometown become richer, stronger, and more renowned, and in the future I will strive to preserve and promote national identity."
