The conference, sponsored by the Rockefeller Fund, which helps cities deal with the increasing socio-economic challenges of the 21st century, focused on challenges currently facing Can Tho City - floods, a rising sea level caused by climate change, drought and food insecurity, epidemics, and water management, with a view to defining a long-term strategy to cope with climate change. Nguyen Hieu Trung, Deputy Director of the Research Institute for Climate Change at Can Tho University, said becoming a member of the 100 Resilient Cities program is an opportunity for Can Tho to learn from other cities’ experience and receive assistance from them.
