100 British citizens brought back to UK, Vietnamese repatriated amid COVID-19

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnamese agencies and the UK Embassy in Vietnam brought 100 British citizens stranded in Vietnam and Cambodia due to the novel coronavirus to their home country on Monday on a Vietnam Airlines flight, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday.

Among the passengers were several British citizens who had fully recovered from the coronavirus following their treatment in Vietnam. Vietnam Airlines also transported face masks as gifts of the Government and people of Vietnam to the Government and people of the UK.

On its return flight, which landed in Van Don International Airport in northern Vietnam on Wednesday, Vietnam Airlines transported home Vietnamese citizens from the UK including students under 18 years of age, the elderly, and people in special circumstances. Returnees will be placed in quarantine for medical observation according to existing regulations.

Under the Prime Minister’s recent instructions, Vietnamese representative agencies abroad have been working hard to repatriate needy Vietnamese citizens stranded in their host countries due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
