Lawmakers said on Tuesday that Vietnam has made substantial economic progress, with continued macroeconomic stability, controlled inflation, maintenance of major economic balances, and State budget revenue surpassing targets.

Vietnam is one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, with a projected GDP growth of over 5% this year. The Vietnamese government is targeting a 6 to 6.5% GDP increase for next year.

Deputy Pham Trong Nghia from Lang Son province recommended that the Government assess the impact of the openness of the economy on Vietnam to foster a more self-reliant and adaptable economy.

"The Government should bolster domestic demand, nurture the domestic market, and reduce taxes, fees, and charges for individuals and businesses; streamline administrative procedures; and propose legislation for regional development and connectivity to the National Assembly,” he added.
