Vietnamese duo make table tennis history at SEA Games 32

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese table tennis duo Dinh Anh Hoang & Tran Mai Ngoc successfully defeated Singaporean duo Clarence Chew & Jian Cheng in Cambodia on May 14, winning a gold medal that has been searched for the past 26 years.

In the final table tennis match at SEA Games 32, Hoang and Ngoc get off to a good start by outplaying Clerence and Jian 13-11 and 11-8 in the first two games.

The Singaporean duo narrows the gap by outperforming the Vietnamese duo 11-8 in the third game.

The decisive forth game becomes intense as it sees the two teams take advantage of each other's foul to get point by point.

At some time the Singaporean pair overwhelms the Vietnamese pair by scoring 8-5.

Despite missing a match point and letting the opponents earn an equalizer, Hoang and Ngoc show more bravery at decisive moments.

The Vietnamese duo scores 14-12 in the forth game, clinching a 3-1 win in the end

This is the first gold medal for Vietnamese table tennis after duo Vu Manh Cuong and Ngo Thu Thuy took gold in 1997.
