(VOVWORLD) - The Ky Cung-Ta Phu Temple Festival in the northern province of Lang Son has resumed after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event attracts crowds donning colourful traditional costumes as they parade through the streets.

The largest festival in Lang Son province is held annually from the 22nd to the 27th day of the first lunar month.

During the procession, local people dress in colourful traditional costumes and parade through the streets of the city. They go from Ky Cung Temple to Ta Phu Temple where they then offer large bowls of incense to the two honoured mandarins Tuan Tranh and Than Cong Tai.

The purpose of the event is to highlight the contribution of Vietnamese heroes and mandarins during national protection and construction in ancient times.

Young and healthy local people are selected to join in the parade.

Local residents prepare a variety of trays full of offerings to the gods when the palanquin procession passes by.

With this festival, the local people express their wish for a year of prosperity, good health, and bumper crops.

Various traditional cultural activities, including folk songs, dances, and games are also held at the festival.
