(VOVWORLD) - Lilies are a symbol of April in Hanoi. Street vendors are selling them throughout the city.

On almost every corner in Hanoi there are lilies in full bloom in the early days of April.

Lilies are particularly plentiful on Thuy Khe, Phan Dinh Phung, Lang Ha, and Thanh Nien street.

Lilies are grown mainly in Hanoi’s Tay Tuu and Quang Ba flower villages. Growers plant the bulbs in September so they bloom in April.

Their fragrance and elegant white petals enthrall many people.

Lilies stand out among the flowers for sale on the street because of their simplicity and beauty.

Street vendors must water the flowers often to keep them fresh.

It’s the beginning of the season and the lilies have yet to fully bloom. The price of bouquet of 15 or 16 stems ranges from 30,000 to 50,000 VND (1.2 - 2 USD).

Although lilies are relatively expensive, many Hanoians are keen to buy them.
